Colorado’s worst wildfire torches 600 structures

The Marshall wildfire, which erupted in Boulder County in Colorado in just five hours, was dubbed the worst in American history.

It tore through 600 buildings in Colorados Boulder CountyAccording to the NWS, wind blasts at 110 MPH took down power lines on Thursday and ignited dry field grass below.According to firefighters, they admitted that the fire swept through the Louisville area, igniting the winds throughout the day.It then headed south towards Superior.Jared Polis, the Governor of Colorado declared an emergency and thousands of residents were asked to leave.

According to Joe Pelle, Boulder County Sheriff, "Tens and thousands of residents have been evacuated from the affected area and many structures, both home and business, were destroyed." He also stated that the fire has consumed over 1,600 acres.As of 6:06 p.m.there had not been any casualties, however Pelle said that he wouldnt be surprised to learn of injuries or deaths later on in a fast-moving fire.Boulder County has been contacted by fire crews from Boulder and metro Denver to help.

The median home price in Louisville was $862,000 according to the US Media, and the average Superior home is $775,000.According to NBC News, the Federal Emergency Management Agency stated that it had authorized federal funding to be used to pay for firefighting expenses.
