Are Deng Xiaoping’s followers ready to take on Xi Jinping, finally?

By Atul AnejNew Delhi (Dec 25): Peoples Daily has made an extraordinary omission.

They are the true voice of the Communist Party of China.

It did not mention Xi Jinping in a report on a crucial Party conclave that concluded last month. He doubles up as the General Secretary of CPC and President of Peoples Republic of China.

There has been a flood of speculations about the absence of any mention of Xi who was a star at the sixth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of CPC in November. It is no surprise that the Beijing political elites are talking a lot.The rumour mill was triggered by more than one factor. The article doesnt just marginalize Xi but also praises Deng Xiaoping - who was the architect of China’s political reforms.

This is part of a New Era that Xi had drafted.Chinas President envisions the new era reaching an inflection point in 2049 when the PRC will be the dominant power worldwide in every sphere of human endeavor.

Qu Qingshan is the president of The Institute of Party History and Literature of Central Committee of Communist Party. He wrote the Peoples Daily article.

Surprisingly, he is a loyalist to Xi Jinping. How does the article relate to you? This commentary praises Deng for his appearance on the political stage after Maos death in 1976.This was also the time that Chinas entire society was traumatized by Mao’s Cultural Revolution and was uncertain about its future.

The back-to-Deng message described the reforms and opening up policies that Deng had facilitated in the 1970s - Deng being Dengs nom-de- guerre - as a "great awakening of the Party".According to the Nikkei Asian Review, Deng "liberated people’s thoughts from the longstanding constraint of leftist doctrinematism," wrote Qu, President of the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Central Committee of the Communist Party.

Qus official status would have meant that Qu had to be part of the "resolution of history" which seeks Dengs elevation. The sixth plenary passed this resolution.

Qus comment seems to foretell the rumble and the roar of a bitter power battle between reformists, who view Deng as their inspiration, and Xi loyalists, supporting Presidents distinctive brand of digital autoritarianism. It was not surprising that Qus position was quickly criticized in a second follow-up article, which appeared in Peoples Daily.

Jiang Jinquan (director of the Policy Research Office at the Party Central Committee) wrote an article that lavishes praises on Xi’s policies.Jiang Jinquans article omits Deng Jiaoping and Jiang Zemin.

According to Nikkei, Mao is only mentioned once, but there are six mentions of Xi.Now it is clear that there has been an ideological conflict within the CPC, between Deng Jiang-Hu supporters and Mao-Xi followers. This will likely culminate in next years 20th Party Congress when the new leadership line for five years is determined.(The content of this article is carried in accordance with Indianarrative.com --indianarrativ #Deng #followers #finally #Delhi #Delhi #New Delhi #Beijing #Congress #Review.
