Bhavesh Shekhawat secures maiden Nationals gold; Vijay Kumar finishes fourth

New Delhi, Nov 28, : Rajasthans Bhavesh Shakhwat won his maiden national title in the mens 25m rapid-fire pistol.

He scored 33 hits out 40 at the 64th National Shooting Championship Competitions held at the Karni Singh Range here SundayAnish Bhanwala from Haryana, who was third overall in the mens event clinched gold for the junior rapid-fire pistol category, strengthening his state’s grip on the medals.

Bhavesh, who is a long-standing performer on the national circuit and has also represented the country in the past, was in top form on Sunday.He scored 33/40 in the eight-series final with clean series scores of five.

Seasoned Gurpreet Sing (Army), had one five-hits series, and won silver with 29 hits.Bhanwala took bronze with 22 hits.

Vijay Kumar, a silver medallist at the London Olympic Games, finished fourth.Ahnad Jawanda and Vijayveer Sidhu, six and five, respectively, were fifth and sixth, respectively.

Anish shot two clean scores of five in the junior mens final.His final score of 34 was well ahead of Adarsh Singh who won silver with 30 hits.
