TTP informs Pak Govt that it would like political office in a 3rd country

New Delhi : Nov 21, 2001 - The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistans (TTP), desire to open a second political office is one of three demands that the terrorist group made of Pakistani authorities in their first talks.

According to the report, both sides had at least three rounds in talks - one in Kabul and two in Khost.According to sources, TTP made three demands of Pakistani officials during a series meetings.

These included the opening of a new political office in another country, reverse of FATA merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the introduction of an Islamic system into Pakistan.These demands were rejected by the Pakistani authorities, who told them directly through Taliban interlocutors.

According to the report, TTP received specific instructions that it was not possible to introduce an Islamic system on the basis of their interpretation.TTP was told by Pakistani officials that they could not allow their lives to be restarted unless certain conditions were met.These conditions included accepting the writ from the state, dropping arms and publicly apologizing for the terrorist acts they committed.They can be granted amnesty if they comply with these conditions, which will allow them to integrate into the mainstream.

Concerns were raised about Pakistans handling of TTP after it was expelled from the country.Members of Parliament were informed in a closed-door meeting that Pakistan is negotiating from a place of strength.

The members of parliament were told that Pakistans return to power by the Afghan Taliban would provide a window for them to defeat the TTP as well as other terrorist groups.Pakistan demanded that the Taliban take over Kabul, August.This included action against terrorists from Afghanistan.
