2 more beaches get ‘Blue-Flag’ certification in India

Two more beaches in our country have received Blue Flag certificates.This brings the number of beaches that have received these certificates to 10.

This includes Kovalam beach in Kerala and Eden Beach in Puducherry.This was officially announced by Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav on social media With this, the number of beaches in India that have received the Blue Flag has risen to 10.Eight beaches in the country received the Blue Flag certificate last year.A Denmark based foundation named Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) issues Blue Flag certificates to beaches.Blue flag is a kind of eco-label.It is recognized worldwide.

Beaches after undergoing several tests will receive this certification.Before awarding this certificate to the beach, the foundation examines the beaches to fulfil 33 criteria.

Beaches that meet 33 standards such as environment, bathwater quality, environmental management, beach safety, and services receive this Blue Flag certificate.The purpose of this certification is, it is more advantageous related to eco-tourism.
