Actor-director Farhan Akhtar celebrated the tenth anniversary of his acclaimed movie "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" on Wednesday.
The film holds a special place in his life and career.
In 2013, the sports drama "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" was released.It was directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and centered around the life of the late sporting icon Milkha Singh.
The film starred Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Divya Dutta, Pavan Malhotra, Yograj Singh, and Prakash Raj.Farhan expressed his gratitude to the audience for their love and support.He mentioned that the films success justified the effort and sacrifices put into making it.He also thanked Rakeysh for giving him the opportunity to be a part of celebrating the legendary Milkha Singh.Farhan shared the official poster of the film along with his heartfelt message.
Milkha Singh, who passed away in 2021 at the age of 91, inspired countless individuals with his remarkable achievements.He came close to winning an Olympic medal in Rome 1960, secured gold medals in the Commonwealth and Asian Games, and displayed incredible determination in rising above difficult circumstances.
The story of "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" begins with the 1960 Olympics race, where Milkha Singh narrowly missed winning a bronze medal, finishing fourth.The film takes the audience through his childhood, early struggles, the days of Partition, and concludes with his triumphant race in Pakistan, where he defeated their national hero Abdul Khaliq.
After his victory, Milkha Singh earned the nickname "The Flying Sikh" from the then President of Pakistan, General Ayub Khan.
Divya Dutta, who portrayed Milkha Singhs elder sister Isri Kaur in the film, also reminisced about her experience on Instagram.She described the film as magical, where everything on the set felt pure and honest.She expressed her gratitude for being a part of a film that holds a special place in everyones hearts.
