Bollywood star actor Ayushmann Khurrana is returning with a sequel to his successful 2019 comedy, Dream Girl.In an interview with a national media, he expressed uncertainty about whether Ananya Panday would be suitable as the female lead in Dream Girl 2.
Ayushmann mentioned that he had reservations because Ananya came from an urban background, and he was unsure if she could adapt to the setting of Mathura, a small city in tier-2 India. However, he was pleasantly surprised by how well she managed to grasp the local accent variations, which change every 10 kilometers in India.
Despite being a Mumbai girl, Ananya performed impressively with the accents, as evidenced by her previous film set in Uttar Pradesh, Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019).The original Dream Girl, directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, was released in 2019 and featured Ayushmann Khurrana as a late-night caller who charmed lonely men using a womans voice.
Set in Mathura, the film starred Nushrratt Bharuccha as the female lead.In Dream Girl 2, Ayushmanns character goes a step further by cross-dressing as a woman to deceive a group of lonely men.Ananya Panday will play the lead opposite Ayushmann, while Annu Kapoor will reprise his role as Ayushmanns father from the first film.Vijay Raaz and Abhishek Banerjee, who were among the lonely men in the original, will also return in their respective roles.
The sequel boasts new additions to the star cast, including comedy veterans like Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, and Manoj Joshi.Dream Girl 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on August 25th.
