Passenger Leaves 2.8 kg Gold in Flight!

Shamshabad airport in Hyderabad has become a new address for gold smuggling.Customs Officers at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad today detected another novel modus operandi of gold smuggling and seized Rs 70 lakh worth gold weighing 2.

8 kg.As per sources Custom Officers Seized 2.8 Kg Gold hidden under the seat of Flight G9-458, from Sharja to RGI Airport Shamshabad in Hyderabad According to sources, the gold was being smuggled in a flight bound for Saudi Arabia.The accused was carrying about 25 gold biscuits with him/her and hid it under the seat.

Cops suspect that the passenger who is carrying smuggled gold might have been scared of the arrest had if he was caught during the security check at the airport and left the gold in the flight itself.The officials arrested some people and further investigation is under progress.

Being a private airport Shamshabad has been marked by smugglers and drug syndicates since last two years to land their merchandise through fights in the form of medicine and rice and other essential commodities.Most of the gold was smuggled from a company in Dubai having links with a travel agent in Dubai .
