World Health Organisation chief praises Aarogya Setu app

World Health Organisation Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus praised India-developed Aarogya Setu app as it helped in tracking Coronavirus clusters and enlarge the testing capability in identified areas.

The Indian government is promoting the app to raise awareness for the users to be safe against the virus.

Over 150 million users have downloaded the Aarogya Setu app that has helped health departments to identify cluster areas with Coronavirus and expand the testing in those places, said Tedros during a media interaction on Tuesday.

The Director-General of WHO has also praised similar apps developed in countries like Germany, Finland and the United Kingdom.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Aarogya Setu app in April during the first phase of nationwide lockdown.

Though the app received mixed reviews and concerns over privacy issues, later it helped people in many ways against Coronavirus.Aarogya Setu app gives regular updates on new positive coronavirus cases and necessary precautions to fight against Covid-19.

Recently, India has surpassed seven million mark in overall corona cases while the world count has reached to 37.8 million.
