Donghae (South Korea), December 8, 2008 : A member from the Indian women’s hockey team that is competing in the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2020 here has tested positive for Covid-19, the Asian Hockey Federation(AHF) stated on Wednesday. AHF informed that the match against South Korea, which was scheduled for Wednesday, has been cancelled due to the positive outcome.
“The Asian Hockey Federation regrets to announce that a positive COVID result was obtained from yesterday’s routine testing of a member for Team India.Today’s match between India and Korea is therefore cancelled.AHF tweeted that more information would be available soon.
The AHF didn’t say if the Indian team would withdraw from the tournament or if they would play the remaining league games.
An earlier match between India and Malaysia was cancelled because a Malaysian player, Nurul Faezah Shah Khalim, tested positive to COVID-19 upon arrival in the country.
The Indian women’s soccer team has just completed its first tournament after an impressive performance at the Olympics.However, Covid-related issues are affecting the event.The tournament could be cancelled by the AHF, according to speculation.
