Los Angeles, Aug 9 : Hollywood actress Whoopi Goldberg was once in an elevator “fart war” with late star Robin Williams and actor Billy Crystal, according to her granddaughter. Amara Skye Dean revealed her “favourite” story from her ‘View’ co-host 66, on the Entertainment Weekly clip from “Claim to Fame’ on Monday according to “Page Six’.
The story involved Williams who died in 2014 at the age of 65, as did his co-star in the film ‘Father’s day at who was 74.
“(She), Robin Williams and Billy Crystal (were) standing in an elevator and Robin Williams was just farting his life away,” Dean explained.
“I believe they were Dutch-ovening one another and taking pleasure in the ambience of the snorts.”
She said that Goldberg who’s real name is Caryn Johnson, was given her stage name due to the fact that “she loves to spit.”
Dean said: “Whoopee cushions, farts.That’s the way Caryn Johnson turned into Whoopi Goldberg.”
The EGOT winner has previously acknowledged the gassy origins to her name in an interview on the “Graham Norton Show interview.
“The theaters I worked in were tiny that they did not have plenty of backstage space which meant that when you were feeling gassy, you needed to (fart) all the way through,” Goldberg said at the time.
“People would say, “You are like a cushion.So that’s what I was.”
While the actress in ‘Sister Act’ isn’t yet able to confirm the elevator’s story, she has been “pretty positive” of Dean over the years, including her ‘Claim To Fame’ time.
“In the beginning, she didn’t understand sliding in the DMs and how people handle things today,” Dean told the New York Post last month and said the fact that Goldberg’s approval “always is important” to her.
“She sort of believed it was fake and advised me to be cautious.”
Goldberg, Williams and Crystal were longtime pals.They were friends for years.she was celebrating her birthday in November of 2020, Crystal visited ‘The View set and presented her with an old photo of the comedians’ pals.
