The makers are finding it tough to release the film in theatres.
The pandemic is not over yet, and the signal of the second wave of Covid-19 is bringing shivers for many industries, especially the film industry.
Although the government has set loose a few restrictions for theatres, the constraint of 50% occupancy has brought distress among the producers.Reportedly they could not be able to retrieve even power bills for theatres with 50% occupancy release, considering the piracy issue and Covid-19 scare.
Hence, several films are in the pipeline waiting for the theatres to open with 100% occupancy.A few film producers are making use of OTTs to cover financial interests.
Accordingly, the filmmakers of Akkineni Nagarjuna starrer Wild Dog have decided to go for a simultaneous release on OTT as well as in theatres with 50% occupancy. In this way, the makers thought they would cover-up profits of 100% theatre release.
However, considering the previous failures of Nagarjuna and less buzz on Wild Dog, no OTT is ready to pay a hefty amount to the producers. If the reports are correct, Netflix is offering a reasonable price for the film, but the producers are wigwagging for more price.
