Mumbai 7 Aug : In the show’s premiere episode, in the first episode of “Kaunbanega Crorepati 14 Col.Mitali Madhumita recalled her rescue mission in Kabul that earned her the Sena Medal for her valour and earned her the distinction of being the first female Indian Army officer to receive an award for gallantry. “In 2009 two of my teammates and myself were sent to Kabul to teach English.There were plenty of attacks in those times.
One particularly difficult incident came when we were targeted,” Col.Madhumita remembered.
“I ran into the area without weapons, not even my dress.In the midst of the fighting we carried out a rescue mission and transported people to a safe place.
We also rushed the wounded to various hospitals,” the brave colonel added.
As she spoke, the host of the show, Amitabh Bachchan stood up and praised her for her bravery and dedication to her mission.
Col.Madhumita joined the army in 2000 as a part of a short service commission and was a part of the Army Education Corps.
She worked in Kabul as member of the Indian Army’s English Language Training program.She was also stationed in Jammu as well as Kashmir and in the northeast.
