WBSSC fraud: ED brings Partha Chatterjee’s daughter and son-in law under surveillance

Kolkata 5 Aug : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) probing the multi-crore West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment fraud has the daughter of Partha Chatterjee Sohini Bhattacharya as well as her husband Kalyanmoy Bhattacharya to the ED’s attention.
Sohini and Kalyanmoy reside in the US and officials from the agency have sent emails to the couple requesting them to go to Kolkata as soon as possible to be questioned.

But ED sources have stated that the motives for summoning the two were different.

Concerning Kalyanmoy Bhattacharya, it’s about his affiliation with three companies: Improline Constructions Private Limited, HRI Wealth Creation Realtors Private Limited, Acrisius Consulting Private Limited.

According to the records of the Registrar of Companies (ROC) under the Union Ministry of Commerce, he is the Director of the Managing Department in Acrisius Consulting, while in the other two companies, he is only a Director.

In HRI Wealth Creation Realtors and Improline Constructions, the second Director is Krishna Chandra Adhikari, who is Kalyanmoy Bhattacharya’s maternal uncle. He’s an occupant of Pingla in West Midnapore district.

The ED sources stated that the most important question for Kalyanmoy Bhattacharya is how he is able to manage the businesses while residing in the US.

“These companies , as we believe, are just shell companies that were created with the aim of transfer of funds to various channels. The registered address of one of them, namely HRI Wealth Creation Realtors Private Limited is a fake.

We are expecting to obtain important details from him in this case,” an agency official said.

The reason of calling Sohini Bhattacharya is linked to a farm called “Bishram” in Puri village in the Baruipur Municipality, South 24 Parganas district.

The farm, that was registered under Sohini Bhattacharya’s namesake, was frequented by Partha Chatterjee as well as his close assistant, Arpita Mukherjee, arrested by the ED in connection with the WBSSC scam.

The house was recently brought to the notice of the ED after an incident of theft in the evening of the 27th of July.

Partha Chatterjee as well as Arpita Mukherjee are scheduled to be arraigned in a special court of Public Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on Friday, as the prolonged ED control for both of both of them is set to come to an end.
