New Delhi, Aug 11 : Former India captain Virat Kohli has started his preparations and training to returning to the senior squad for the Asia Cup, starting August 27 in the UAE.Kohli was a bit off in India’s trip of the West Indies where the team played three ODIs as well as five T20Is in July and August. The good news is that he was selected for the highly-anticipated Asia Cup, which also has a blockbuster battle between rivals India as well as Pakistan.
The star cricketer posted on social media to post the video of his training session on an Instagram story, which went all across the internet in the nick of time.
The video shows Kohli can be seen wearing a uniform and running a few sprints between wickets in an indoor training facility.
The 33-year-old’s performance has been under the microscope, with a section of the Cricket community has been doubting his spot in India’s T20I team. The Indian has played four T20I appearances this season in which he has only scored 81 runs in an average of 20.25 with one half-century.
He also had a subpar IPL season in which he scored 341 runs in 16 innings, with an average of 22.73 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
In the past, Kohli had said that his goal is to help India to win the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup which is scheduled to be played in Australia in October and November.
“My primary goal is to assist India to win the Asia Cup and the World Cup and to do this, I’m ready to do whatever it takes to help India’s team,” Kohli had told Star Sports ahead of India’s tour of England.
