New Delhi, Aug 17 : In a shocking admission about his financial situation Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli has said that he is seeking cricket-related jobs as his sole source of income is his pension provided by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
The 50-year-old Kambli who last coached an entire team in the 2019 T20 Mumbai League, has been afflicted by post-Covid society.

He is dependent on the 30,000 rupees provided by the BCCI which provides for the charge of his family.

He was also a coach for youngsters at the Tendulkar Middlesex International Academy in Nerul.

However the retired cricketer finds Nerul too far away to travel.

“I used to get up at 5am, then take taxi to DY Patil Stadium.It was a very busy.I would then be a coach at the BKC ground in the evening,” Kambli told Mid-day.

“I am an ex-cricketer who is totally dependent on my pension provided by the BCCI.My sole source of income (source of income) at the moment is through the Board for which I am extremely grateful and grateful.

It is the best responsibility of my family members,” he added.

In a further discussion about his financial issues, Kambli mentioned that it is crucial to be assigned assignments to ensure an ongoing life after retirement, and he is seeking it through the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).

“I sought assistance from the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association).I was a member of the CIC (Cricket Improvement Committee) however, it was an honorary position.I visited the MCA to seek help.I have an entire family to take care of.I’ve told the MCA numerous times that if they need me, I will be there, whether at Wankhede Stadium or at BKC,” he said.

“Mumbai cricket has taught me many things.

I owe my whole life to this sport.After retirement, there’s no more cricket to play.If you want to be stable in life, it’s vital to be assigned tasks.I’m seeking this from the MCA.All I have to do is ask the MCA president (Dr Vijay Patil) or the secretary (Sanjay Naik) for an assignment,” he added.

Asked if his former friend from childhood and India cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar is aware of the financial crisis the former cricketer replied: “He (Sachin) knows everything, but I’m not expecting anything from Sachin.He provided me with the TMGA (Tendulkar Middlesex Global Academy) assignment.I was extremely happy.He was a good friend.He has always stood by me.”

Kambli further stated that he will be available in case the Mumbai team requires him.

“I require assignments, where I will be able to work with children.I know that Mumbai has retained Amol (Muzumdar) as head coach however, if you need me I will be there.We’ve played with each other, and we were an excellent team.This is what I would like to see them (Mumbai team) to do.to be a team,” he said.

Kambli played for India in the 104 ODIs and 17 Test games.He recorded 3561 runs in a variety of various formats which included four centuries in Tests as well as two ODI hundreds between 1991 between 1991 and 2000.
