Chennai 8 August : actor Vijay Sethupathi has won the Best Actor Award at the Indo French International Film Festival for his performance in director Seenu Ramasamy’s critically-acclaimed Tamil entertainer Maamanithan. The film also won the prize for Best Picture.
In a tweet to announce the announcement the director Seenu Ramasamy posted, “Congratulations Vijay Sethupathi for Best Actor and Yuvan Shankar Raja for the Best Picture.We thank you for the Indo-French International Film Festival.”
It is interesting to note that the film, which was able to garner massive praise from many sources shortly after its release, was directed by ace Shankar calling it a’realistic classic’.Shankar even claimed that Vijay Sethupathi’s superb performance in the film merited an award.National Award.

“Maamanithan” took home the gold in the Best Asian Film category, while Takahiro Kawabe’s ‘Love song at 5 PM’ took home the silver award, and Mart Bira’s “Nomadic Doctor” was awarded the bronze award at the Tokyo Film Awards.
