An MoU was signed on Sunday between VEM Technologies and the Telangana government to set up the country’s first ‘Integrated Defence Systems Center’ worth Rs 1000 crore in Zaheerabad.

The defence centre will be set up at Yelgoi near Zaheerabad on ​​about 511 acres of land.

Speaking at an event organized, Minister KTR said that Hyderabad has become a destination for investment by manufacturing companies in the aviation and defence sectors such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, GE and Saffron.

There are currently over a thousand Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state for defence products.

KTR recalls that many MSMEs have grown into large companies with world-class infrastructure.

He said the central and state governments should co-operate on issues related to the defence sector as it was crucial for the country’s development.He said VEM Technologies would invest thousands of crores of rupees for the defence centre, which is capable of manufacturing missile systems.

It would also employ more than 2,000 people.
