Critically acclaimed Tamil thriller ‘Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru’ also known as ‘D-16’ which was directed by young Tamil director Karthick Naren, is now being remade in Bollywood with star actor Varun Dhawan playing the lead role.Sajid Nadiadwala who already produced ‘Dishoom’ and ‘Judwaa 2’ will collaborate with Varun for the third time and will be bankrolling this remake under his Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner.
This remake is titled as ‘Sanki’ and Parineeti Chopra is being considered for the female lead role opposite Varun.Now the interesting news is that Varun Dhawan will be seen playing the role of handicap cop in ‘Sanki’.
Sources close to the film say that the makers are adapting the screenplay to suit the pan-India platform. Touted as an intense cop drama, Varun Dhawan is playing a cop who loses his leg during one of the investigations.
Rahman has played this role in the original Tamil film.This is surely going to be a challenging role for Varun because he plays a character battling a physical handicap for the first time in his career.
On the work front, Varun has ‘Bhediya’, ‘Ekkis’ and ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ under his belt at the moment.Stay tuned for more updates!
