Kabul 25 December : .Uzbekistan provided 3,700 tonnes humanitarian aid for Afghanistan, in an attempt to assist millions of people displaced by the cold winter.The shipment was transported by 63 railway wagons to Afghanistan’s northern city Mazar-I-Sharif.Afghan officials received the package.
It contains winter clothing, fuel, and food, which will be distributed to poor Afghans during an economic crisis.
Sher Mohammad Abdul Abbas Stanikzai (Deputy Foreign Minister for Afghanistan’s Taliban-led government) expressed gratitude to Uzbekistan and called for strengthening relations between Kabul, Tashkent, and Kabul.
Stanikzai urged Uzbekistan not to stop Afghanistan from rebuilding its airports or building railroads.He also called for scholarships for Afghan students.
Afghanistan is currently in economic crisis.More than 22 million of its 36 million inhabitants are reported to be facing severe food insecurity since August’s Taliban takeover.
The Afghan government called for humanitarian assistance from the international community in order to overcome this crisis.
Many countries, including China, Uzbekistan and Qatar, have already provided aid.
