Tehran, Nov 30, : The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh stated that the US should cease following the maximum pressure policy of former President Donald Trump against Iran. Khatibzadeh said, “The Americans took their time in six (previously) rounds of negotiation to preserve Trump’s failed Legacy.” Khatibzadeh was referring to six rounds of negotiations between Iran, the remaining parties to the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA), that were held in Vienna’s capital from April to June, and were suspended following the election of Iranian President.
Iran has entered the new rounds with good intentions and real desire for fruitful negotiations.
He stated that he advised the parties to “seize this window of opportunity” because it will not last forever.
“Equally we are moving towards lifting oppressive sanctions, neutralising the pressure lever,” said the Iranian spokesperson.
He noted that the composition of the Iranian negotiation team in Vienna shows how Iran will be focusing on lifting sanctions.
Khatibzadeh was asked whether Iran would hold direct talks in Vienna with the US, according to Xinhua news agency.

Six rounds of talks between Iran and the P4+1, which consists of Britain, France, Russia, China, France and Russia, were held.The US was indirectly involved from April through June.
After a break due to the Iranian Presidential Elections in June, the new round of talks will begin in Vienna, Austria’s capital.
Donald Trump’s US government withdrew from 2015 agreement in May 2018, and unilaterally imposed sanctions against Iran.
Iran has been gradually withdrawing from certain parts of the deal’s commitments since May 2019 in response.
The Iran’s new negotiation team has made demands for the revival and verification of the nuclear agreement.
This includes the lifting of all US sanctions and a verification mechanism for the withdrawal of embargo.Also, the US must guarantee that the next administration will not violate the deal.
