Lucknow, Nov 28, : Police officers from Lucknow will receive training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), to be able save lives as quickly as possible. The medical experts who will train the personnel include the head of cardiology at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, (SGPGIMS).
Piyush Mordia is the Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP).He is the nodal leader of the programme.
The training will be conducted by Dr Aditya Kapoor, head of the department of cardiology at SGPGI.He stated that nearly two million people die in sudden cardiac arrest each year in the country.
Dr.S.K.is the head of King George’s Medical University’s cardiology department.Dwivedi and iCARE (Cardiac Arrest Resuscitation for All) will also train police officers.
Each Lucknow police station has been asked by the DCP to compile a list of 500-1,000 people who will receive online training.
Dr Kapoor and Mukul Goel, the state Director General of Police (DGP), first proposed the idea of CPR training for police officers across the state.
