UN chief condemns terrorist attack on UN-affiliated convoy, Somalia

United Nations, Nov 27, : UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned Thursday’s terrorist attack on a UN-affiliated convoy, in front of a school, in Mogadishu.
Friday’s secretary-general extended his deepest condolences and wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.Farhan Haq, the deputy spokesman for the secretary-general, released a statement requesting that Somali authorities bring those responsible to justice.

According to the statement, the secretary-general expressed solidarity with Somalia’s government and people in their fight against terror and violent extremism.

The suicide car bombing that occurred early Thursday morning left at least eight people dead and 17 others injured.According to police, the target was a convoy belonging a security company that protects UN personnel.Al-Shabab militants claimed responsibility for the attack.
