Udta Punjab, Anurag Kashyap’s Phantom films production, directed by Ishqiya fame, Abhishek Chaubey, has been fighting with Central Board of Film Certification from past several days.It has become the central point of many news outlets has the makers have gone to Bombay High Court for the release of the film, with an appropriate ‘A’ certificate and also wanted CBFC, to withdraw their proposed 81 cuts in the film.
The censor board chief, Pahlaj Nihalani, the man who supported their decision till fortnight, came out in a dramatic twist of events, and announced that the film is awarded an ‘A’ certificate with 17 cuts in total.The issue has been still in the court and a Judgement from Bombay High Court is expected today, i.e., 13th June, 2016.
Punjab government announced earlier, that they would be thinking about imposing a ‘ban’ on the film in the state, as it depicts their state in the bad light.
