LG Manoj Sinha made clear that he will be there to create concrete foundations for the Union Territory in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s spirit and letter to make J&K an exclusive Smart City.
Although the work has been quietly carried out, there is not much press coverage. However, local media are reporting on it.JKUT has been completely renovated by the Central government to ensure its holistic development.

The UT is implementing a long list of parallel projects.Youth are encouraged to bring their ideas and suggestions to government. This encourages maximum participation at all levels. With the help of the government, the sky’s the limit.

It is up to youth to make the most of what they’ve had over the last several decades.

A number of projects have been approved for the development of Smart Schools and to modernize school infrastructure, such as ICT facilities and information and communication technology (ICT) in high schools.

These facilities will be used for education that is technology-based.The government has also announced more job openings for youth in J&K.

This includes an increase of seats in the general quota of state residents and an increase of the maximum age for applicants.Job creation is on the rise due to an expanding social and economic front.

Another achievement is the inauguration on 31 August of the Parliamentary Outreach Programme to empower Panchayati Raj institutions of the UT.This was a step in the direction decentralization with an emphasis on self-governance.This is an innovative initiative by Shri Om Birla, Lok Sabha Speaker. He wanted to improve governance at grass roots level.

The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways has announced that the National Highways and tunnels are now being built. The cost for the proposed tunnels is Rs 50000 crore, while other road work will be Rs 1 Lakh crore by 2022-2223.

This would create a catalyst effect that could lead to increased employment.

Construction quality is unmistakably on par with European road construction.

High setting up costs will reduce future repair requirements, saving money and increasing the country’s reliance on the road.

The District Administration Srinagar and the Enforcement Wing of the Revenue Department launched an extensive anti-encroachment campaign across the entire city.

Saidpora Eidgah and Ali Jan Road were among the prime areas where land worth 40 kanals was confiscated.A new initiative to digitize land records, called “Aap ki Zameen and Aap ki Nigrani”, is also being undertaken.

The region also received a monthlong awareness campaign about land records information.Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP), which was launched in Doda, UT of Jammu and Kashmir and later administered in other areas of the UT, is now a significant milestone.

It provides the most transparent and accountable services for the common man.The web portal allows users to search for land-related documents and see scanned copies.

The Ujjwala Scheme (ensures LPG connection to all), Mumkin Scheme, (easy loans and subsidy to youth who are unemployed to make a living in transportation), Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa for farmers issuing weather advisory), and scooters for the handicapped (J&K Rehabilitation Council) ensure that these programs and other welfare schemes can reach their maximum potential. These programs and initiatives receive feedback directly from the people via representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions (PRIs), who ensure quick resolution to any issues.

J&K Jal Shakti Department, under Jal Jeevan Mission, is launching an operation to establish Paani Samiti for every village in order to instill ownership and a sense that they are responsible for the development process.Jal Jeevan Mission is a J&K centrally supported program that will provide functional water connections to all rural homes by 2022.

The program aims to decentralize power and involve all levels of society, with 50 percent female representation. The goal is to increase community by allowing everyone to contribute in the planning, execution, management, operation, and maintenance of all supply streams.

JJM funds can be viewed by the public to ensure transparency of budgets and expenses.

At the doorstep, public grievances can be raised.

As local authorities begin to formulate plans according to their needs, the 3-tier governance system is strengthening democracy at the grassroots level. This is a sign of government concern for common citizens.

Two years have passed since Article 370 was removed, and J&K has only risen in that time. This region is moving towards self-reliance.

The JKUT’s good governance is evident to all levels of society.Instead of merely lip-service, the government is following up on suggestions and making recommendations to local authorities.

To include all communities in this effort, officials are making visits to remote areas that have never seen the light of day.The friendly and interactive approach to governance has helped reduce the distance between citizens and the government. It will also help in the promotion of JKUT’s economic profile and self sufficiency via tourism.
