In the wake of the pandemic, Hyderabad people preferred their own transportation rather than the metro and RTC.

Against this backdrop, Metro Rail incurred huge losses since March last year.Though the Telangana state government has lifted the lockdown in the state, there is no visible change in the metro losses. However, the Metro Rail officials are seeking the state government’s assistance. But to no avail.

On the other hand, the Telangana state RTC is also incurring losses.

Due to Covid, the RTC has suffered unprecedented losses.Within four months, the TSRTC underwent Rs 900 crore losses.

The latest figures show that the RTC incurred over Rs 900 crore loss from April to July in this fiscal year.Experts estimated that the average loss is Rs 225 crore per month.

Also, they opined that if the situation continues the same way, it will be risky for the Telangana state government to ply the RTC busses in the state.TSRTC seeks the government to support them by increasing the ticket prices as soon as possible.
