In the recently held meeting with the state officials chaired by Telangana Chief Minister KCR, CM KCR decided to focus more on the loss-occurring TSRTC.As a part of this, the concerned authorities are preparing proposals to increase RTC bus fares.
The report is currently being prepared for an increase of 25 paise per kilometre.In addition, two alternative reports are being prepared at 20 paise per kilometre and 28–30 paise per kilometre.
These will be submitted to the CM’s office for discussion at the next cabinet meeting.
At the suggestion of the Chief Minister, the RTC, which is mired in a severe financial crisis, may get a ticket price hike.
The CM’s office said in a statement released on Tuesday night that the proposals would be discussed at the next cabinet meeting and a decision would be taken.In the wake of this statement, the officials had started working on these proposals.
Officials have come up with the idea of raising fares by 25 paise per kilometre to offset the additional burden on the RTC in the last few months due to increased diesel, tire and other equipment prices.
