The Telangana state government has decided to provide subsidized electric cars to SC and ST youth under the Telangana State Program for Rapid Incubation of Dalit Entrepreneurs (T-Pride).In the initial stages, the state government provides cars to 500 people across the state.
Earlier, GHMC, under the auspices of the Minority Welfare Department, provided cars on subsidy to unemployed youth under the ‘Driver Cum Owner’ scheme.And now, the Telangana state government has decided to provide cars under the T-Pride scheme for SC and ST youth.
The government has recently written to the Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation Limited (TSREDCO) to make arrangements to provide subsidies for electric cars to the SC and ST youth in the state.
As part of the T-Pride scheme, up to 35 percent subsidy is being given to SC and ST youth setting up new businesses and industries.
Currently, the state government plans to provide electric cars to SC and ST youth at a 60 per cent discount under the auspices of the Minority Welfare Department.The Telangana state government is promoting electric vehicles as part of its environmental protection program.
