By Ashe O New York, Aug 12 : Former US Trump’s business associates former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Allen Weisselberg, the long-time business associate of the Trump Organization, is still facing a myriad of criminal charges connected to tax evasion charges after he was unsuccessful in an New York court this week to get the charges brought against him by the District Attorney (DA) dismissed.

Manhattan Judge of New York district Juan Merchan rejected arguments made by Weisselberg that the lack of evidence supported his accusations.

The lawyers of Weisselberg have previously suggested his conviction was the product of revenge-driven witness testimony by an individual who, despite being not named in public debates.

The revelations were a key element in investigations targeting the Trump Organization as well as the Manhattan-based criminal investigation which ended in some in the criminal case filed against Weisselberg in an investigation in which the Trump company was also included as co-defendant.

A second hearing in the case is scheduled for September 12, when a motion by Weisselberg will be considered.
