Ministers and Members of Parliament, as well as state legislators who belonged to Telangana Rashtra Samithi were able to stage ‘dharnas in their respective constituencies.

Raising slogans against the Centre and holding placards, a large number of TRS cadres and farmers joined the leaders in the sit-in to protest the Centre’s refusal to lift the entire stock of paddy from the state.

Harish Rao claimed that although Telangana had made significant progress in its agriculture sector, and many steps were taken for farmers’ welfare over the seven-year period, it was the Centre’s stand on paddy procurement which has been a curse to farmers.

He listed the steps taken by the TRS government like completion of irrigation projects, revival of tanks and lakes and 24-hour free electricity supply to increase the area under cultivation.
