Hundreds of tribal-based party members participated in demonstrations led by their leaders.

Kamal Koloi, TIPRA’s spokesperson, stated that they had previously planned to meet with Amit Shah, the union Home Minister, to discuss their demand. However, the Prime Minister’s Office indicated PM Narendra Modi had “expressed his desire to meet with the tribal leaders”.

Koloi said that Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi, might visit the protest site on Wednesday to show his solidarity.

Deb Barman, the head of the erstwhile royal house Tripura, stated Tuesday that the “Greater Tipraland”, which can be achieved under the Indian constitution, is essential for all socio-economic development as well as the protection of traditional culture, customs, and life.

While most national parties, including the BJP, CPI-M, and the Congress have opposed the “Greater Tipraland”, demand, the demand triggered enormous doubts and fears among the mixed-populated Tripura.

“Delhi, listen to us!” We are here to demand our constitutional rights! Everybody is welcome in Greater Tipraland,” Deb barman tweeted.

“Under the ‘Greater Tipraland” concept, a powerful council would exist to promote the socio-economic development of all the tribals living in the eight northeastern countries and neighboring countries, including Bangladesh.Similar councils are already in place in European countries.

Deb Barman told IANS that we want to solve the basic problems of the tribals permanently.

Since 2009, the IPFT has been agitating for the creation a separate state through upgrading TTAADC.

It has jurisdiction over more than two-thirds Tripura’s 10,491 square.km.Area and is home to more than 12,16,000 people, 90% of whom are tribals.

The TTAADC was established under the Sixth Schedule to the Indian Constitution in June 1985 for socio-economic development.

It is considered a mini-legislative assembly in Tripura.
