Women and men were threatened by the agitated candidates to file cases at the Tripura High Court.

An angry BJP representative from north Tripura voiced his dismay on social media about the list.On Wednesday, however, the legislator removed his Facebook post.

Senior police officers said that the Tripura police chief published Monday the names of 1,443 candidates, including 138 women, to the posts of Riflemen or Riflemen (tradesmen), to create two additional battalions for TSR under the Indian Reserve battalion category.Three-fifths of the 1,443 chosen candidates are from other states.

Tripura has currently 12 TSR battalions.

One battalion deployed to Delhi, and the Union Home Ministry posted another under Oil and Natural Gas Corporation.

A second battalion will soon be under South Eastern Coal Fields Limited, Chhattisgarh.

Two more IR battalions were sanctioned by the Union Home Ministry earlier. The Tripura government is now attempting to hire personnel for these two new TSR battalions.

TSR’s IR battalions provided security for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, New Delhi. They also served as election officers in 16 other states (Bihar, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh), Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Delhi.
