Agartala 22 Nov : .On Sunday, Trinamool Congress’ youth wing chief Saayoni Ghosh was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder and provocation with the intent to create riot.
A Tripura court granted her bail on Monday. Ghosh was granted bail by Soumya Bikash, an Additional Chief Judicial Magistrates of West Tripura District.
She directed Ghosh to cooperate in the investigation into the case against her.Ghosh was taken into custody for two days by the police, who refused to grant their request.
Shankar Lodh, defence lawyer, stated that neither the police claim was supported by sufficient evidence nor the court found enough reason to arrest Ghosh.
Lodh stated that Ghosh was granted bail on the grounds of a Rs 20,000 bond with a surety.
B.Jagadeswar Reddy (West Tripura District’s Additional Superintendent for Police Urban) had previously stated that Ghosh was a victim of five sections IPC — 153 (provocation to cause riot), 153A (promoting enmity among different religions, race, and language), 307(attempt at murder), 506 (“criminal intimidation”), 120 (concealing intent to commit an offence).
Trinamool’s National General Secretary Abhishek Bang Banerjee commented on her arrest Monday, saying that the reason she was detained was for using the slogan “Khela hobe” (let’s have fun).
“Even prime minister Narendra Modi used the slogan ‘Khela Hobe’ during his Assembly election campaign for Bengal.
Banerjee stated to the media that he ought to have been detained as well.
On Monday, Trinamool MPs staged a protest in Delhi in support of Ghosh’s detention and the violence against party workers and leaders in Tripura.
