Telangana Agriculture Ministry ordered to bring a token system for Cotton purchase so that farmers do not suffer due to rains.

Heavy to moderate rains have been affecting almost all places in Telangana, adding to the ongoing crisis of Corona pandemic.

Accordingly, cotton farmers are facing various problems to sell their crop in the state.Hence the Agriculture department in Telangana has decided to issue tokens to farmers for purchase of cotton, preventing unnecessary wait for farmers at the purchase centres.

The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has agreed to establish the cotton purchase centres at 300 ginning mills and nine market yards across the Telangana.After reviewing the arrangements for cotton purchase, Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy has ordered the officials to ensure safe trade for the farmers.

He directed the officials to get tarpaulin covers, go-down space and other necessary arrangements to prevent cotton from getting damaged due to rain at the centres.

He also passed a message to farmers to follow the token system and avoid unnecessary crowding at purchase centres.The CCI will purchase the cotton priced minimum at Rs 5,825 per quintal (8% moisture), Rs 5,766.75 (9% moisture), Rs 5,708.50 (10% moisture), Rs 5,650.25 (11% moisture), and Rs 5,582 (12% moisture).Cotton Farmers will get an incentive of Rs 116.50 and Rs 58.25 per quintal for six per cent and seven per cent moisture respectively in addition to MSP of Rs 5,825 per quintal.
