New Delhi : , Monday, November 22nd : , The Trinamool Congress staged a protest in front of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), here in protest at West Bengal Trinamool Youth Congress President Saayoni Ghosh being arrested and the alleged violence against party cadres from Tripura. A 15-member TMC delegation protests outside MHA, dissatisfied at not being offered an appointment with Union home Minister Amit Shah.
Police said that SaayoniGhosh, a suspect in murder and provocation with the intent of riot was taken into custody on Sunday at Agartala.
TMC MP Derek O’Brien stated: “We will continue agitating until Shah gives us an arrangement for meeting him.”
The TMC says the Dharna was organized to demonstrate against the police brutality in Tripura.
Derek O’Brien stated: “We want Shah to meet us as Tripura’s TMC leaders and activists are being violently attacked and detained on false charges.”
Saugata Roy, TMC MP said that TMC leaders were being held on false charges.That is why they are protesting outside of the ministry.
TMC MP Dola Sen stated that every party is entitled to political rights as per Supreme Court directives.Although we are considered a regional party now, we would like to run in the Agartala Municipal Corporation election.
The lawmaker gets beaten every time a TMC MP arrives in Tripura.Shah is not even being offered an appointment for our MPs.”
TMC leaders accused BJP leadership of continually attacking party workers, candidates and Tripura police officers of being “biased” despite Supreme Court directives.
The TMC won West Bengal three consecutive times and had already announced that it would fight for the Tripura Assembly elections.BJP currently governs Tripura and Goa.
TMC leaders have been running for party candidates in both states.
