London 15th August : Former England captain Andrew Strauss believes that Test cricket can coexist with rising T20 cricket in the world. But at the same, he admitted that the format is in a tough spot as the cricket world continues to play an unending schedule.

“One thing we are aware of is that in other countries is that Test cricket isn’t a source of income like it does here.T20 cricket is the T20 format is the method that many of people are first introduced to the sport in the first place.I’m still convinced that they can play comfortably, playing Test cricket, and T20 cricket.”

“But the problem we face is (to create an) feasible timetable that lets players be able to do both. This is a real challenge. It’s multi-dimensional.” Strauss was quoted as saying by The Daily Telegraph.

In recent times, there has been a recent decision of New Zealand pacer Trent Boult to choose to opt out of central contracts to allow him the chance to participate in T20 leagues as well as the growth of franchise leagues in the UAE and South Africa has added to the challenges international cricket faces at the moment.

Strauss acknowledged that developments such as these create uncertainty regarding the future of the game , and he emphasized the necessity to England to be agile and adaptable in the fast-changing world.

“It certainly feels like, now that the pace of change is growing. And the truth isthat no one of us knows what’s going to happen around the corner, so you could look ahead and think, ‘Oh we’re going to be in the situation that players sign to franchises for 12 months of the year, but the international cricket is less.’ We don’t know anything of that at this time.”

“One of the things that we need to be aware of in playing the game in this country is that we need to be agile and flexible. We cannot afford to be slow and burying our heads in the dirt.I think it’s vital to ensure that when we establish ourselves in this country, and create the environment in the way which allows us to be flexible and flexible.”

Strauss also warned that the increasing quantity of T20 leagues in the world will provide players more power to select and select matches and formats according to their preferences.

“The world of cricket around us is changing at a rapid pace.

Every day each month, we’re witnessing the latest example of how the our world is changing. One thing we’re forced to consider in the United States is”where is our role in all of this?”

“At both the international and domestic level, what are we supposed to be doing, prioritising and investing in and not investing in and so on, to ensure that the game stays relevant and strong, and that we have the right incentives that allow our players to play white and red-ball cricket? The players (the players) will always evaluate these opportunities side-by-side and decide what is most beneficial for them. You do not have to worry about that.”

“And therefore, we must continue to promote all the amazing features that cricket in the United States offers players. We need a active domestic game, and we’d like to ensure that the players are playing the proper mixture of formats, so that we don’t end up going down the white-ball short-form route. There’s still a lot of players who want to be committed and push themselves to become the best Test cricketers they can become.”
