Grain purchases in Telangana is going to set a new record in the grain procurement history during the monsoon season.The Department of Civil Supplies of Telangana estimates that more than a crore metric tonnes of grain will have to be procured this season.

Currently, the state govt is planning to set up more than 6,500-grain purchasing centres in the wake of more yield this year.Within a week or ten days, procurement centres will be set up across the state, and grain procurement will begin.

The measures taken by the Telangana state govt resulted in increased yield and acreage of paddy.While the area under paddy is 16.73 lakh hectares, this time, it has been cultivated in 24.99 lakh hectares due to the significant increase in water availability.The government estimates that at least 1.33 crore metric tonnes of paddy would be produced this year.

Of this, 14.23 lakh metric tonnes will be used for domestic use, and 4.86 lakh metric tonnes of grains will be used for seed.It is estimated that 1.13 crore metric tonnes of grain will be sent to the market.Of this, millers procured 12.49 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, and the government has to procure the remaining 1.01 crore metric tonnes of grain, according to the Civil Supplies Department.
