The Telangana state medical health department plans to strengthen the medical infrastructure in the state ahead of the third wave of the corona.Currently, it is planning to ensure that no shortage arises, especially in providing oxygen to corona victims.

During the first and second waves, oxygen was provided to 17,000 beds in government hospitals.Recently, arrangements are being made to increase this by another 10,000 beds.

Oxygen plants will also be set up in all district hospitals.

Also, authorities have decided to convert 20 beds in each area hospital into ICUs.20 per cent of beds in all government hospitals will be allocated to children.Every private hospital with more than a hundred beds was ordered to have an oxygen plant within the hospital premises.

Hospitals with between 100 to 200 beds should set up a plant with a capacity to produce 500 litres of medical oxygen per minute.Hospitals with between 200–500 beds should set up a plant that can produce one 1000 litres of oxygen per minute.

Also, hospitals with more than 500 beds should have a plant with the capacity of producing 2,000 litres of oxygen per minute.Lack of adequate medical facilities and vaccinations could make the situation worse, warns National Disaster Management Department.
