At the time of the formation of Telangana, the state had only 50,000 crores of debts but in the past nine years of ruling of the BRS government, its debts have increased to 5.5 Lakh crore, saddling each child born in the state with 1.25 lakh debt, alleged Congress senior leader and MLC T.Jeevan Reddy on Sunday.
Pointing to the state’s mounting debts, the MLC at a press meet said that Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao had transformed the surplus state into debt-ridden.
He asked the BRS government whether it was celebrating the decennial celebrations of Telangana formation for driving the state into debt or forgetting the dreams and aspirations for the new state.Instead of progression, Telangana state, unfortunately, had witnessed regression under the inefficient leadership of K.Chandrashekar Rao.The construction of the Kaleshwaram Project and filling of the reservoirs was pointless when the government had failed to construct distributary canals, he said.
Jeevan Reddy said the BRS government took up the Mission Bhagiratha project at a cost of 40,000 crore but had not even supplied water to 50 per cent of households in the state so far.As per the AP Reorganisation Act, the state can secure power without any investments from NTPC by just making power purchase agreements.But the BRS government had neglected the issue, betraying the people of Telangana, he alleged.
The state government allocated crores of rupees but had not implemented any welfare scheme perfectly.Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao has reneged on his polls promises of implementation of state-wide 2BHKs, Dalit Bandhu, 12% reservation to Muslim minorities and jobs for unemployed, the MLC said, noting that the people were looking forward to elections to dethrone KCR and vote the Congress to power for forming separate Telangana.
