TDP misleading people with Mahanadu drama : CM Jagan

In a fresh offensive against the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Andhra PRadesh Chief Minister and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday, 1 June, described the yellow party’s event Mahanadu as an effort to mislead people with inane promises.

He was speaking at a public meeting at Pathikonda in the Kurnool district after crediting ₹5,500 in financial assistance to 52.3 lakh eligible farmers under the first tranche of the YSR Rythu Bharosa-PM Kisan scheme for the fifth consecutive year.

A sum of ₹2,000 for each farmer, due from the Central government under this scheme, is yet to be received.

When it comes, it will raise the disbursal amount to ₹7,500 for these farmers.

Meanwhile, it may be noted that Mahandadu is the TDP’s annual celebration to mark the birth anniversary of its founder and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister NT Rama Rao.The two-day event was held in Rajamahendravaram — erstwhile Rajahmundry — late last month.

Guns trained at Chandrababu

The Andhra Pradesh chief minister, continuing his tirade against TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu, said the latter eulogised the virtues of a leader (NTR) whom he had killed.“In the name of Mahanadu, a show was organised by the TDP.One person (Naidu), who killed the leader (NTR), garlanded his statue and sang paeans to him,” said Jagan.

The reference was ostensibly to Naidu deposing NTR from the top post within the TDP in August 1995 and taking on its presidency.Actor-turned-politician NTR died mere months later — on 18 January, 1996.

‘Naidu’s life is copy-and-paste’

Referring to the manifesto Naidu released at the Mahanadu event, Jagan said that the TDP chief’s life was one of “copy and paste”.“He copies the manifestos of all other parties.

But I came out with my manifesto in response to the problems the people faced.I learnt about them during my padayatra,” he said.

Jagan warned the people to be cautious about Naidu.“The TDP chief will come before you with new promises intended to cheat you. There will be an all-out war in the coming days. The war will be between the poor and the feudal lords.

It will be a war between good and evil,” he said.

“Naidu does not have the courage to face elections alone.

That is why he has formed a band of dacoits — three media houses and an adopted son (Pawan Kalyan),” he alleged.“They are impatient to grab power.

They want to loot the state, share, and take away.Do you want him, or do you want the party that transfers money to your accounts as Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under welfare schemes?” he asked the gathering.
