New Delhi, Aug 17 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Wednesday in a meeting that was described as an “courtesy visit” by sources in the official media. In his nearly 20-minute conversation with Modi, Stalin is reported to have raised issues relating to Cauvery river, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), Mekadatu dam, and the National Education Policy (NEP).
Sources who were aware of the situation However, they refused to discuss whether Stalin discussed these issues with the Prime Minister and claimed that it was just an “courtesy visit”.
A memorandum on the demands mentioned above was released by officials of the state government in New Delhi after Stalin’s meeting with the Prime Minister.
However earlier the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister – who arrived in the capital city of the nation in the morning hour of Wednesday – told reporters in the Tamil Nadu House prior to meeting with the Prime Minister he would discuss issues pertaining to the state with the Prime Minister.
Stalin spoke of Cauvery river, Mekadatu dam and NEET related issues in the press conference.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister also stated that due to unavoidable circumstances he was unable to be present at the ceremony of swearing-in of the Vice President and President, and as such, he was looking for a time to meet them and was granted an appointment.
In the same way, he met President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Stalin when referring to his conversation with Modi Stalin, while speaking to reporters, said that since he was infected with Covid, he could not personally meet with Modi to officially open the recently concluded Chess Olympiad, which was held in Mahabalipuram.
Stalin stated that he would like to meet with the Prime Minister personally to thank him for his phone call invitation to the Chess Olympiad.
Then later, the Prime Minister’s Office also tweeted about Modi’s meeting with Stalin.
“The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru @mkstalin, has called on the Prime Minister,” it tweeted.
