“Taliban continues to provide necessary facilities for aid agencies”

Kabul, Nov 24, : A senior official stated that the Taliban-led government of Afghanistan has continued to provide all necessary facilities and conveniences to international and local aid agencies.
Maulvi Abdul Kabir, acting Deputy Premier Minister for Political Affairs made the remarks during a meeting of a visiting delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Xinhua reported that an official statement was quoted as saying.

According to the statement, he stated that the caretaker government would provide all facilities necessary for all Afghanistan-based charities, including the ICRC and non-governmental organizations.

Dominik Stillhart, Director of Operations at ICRC, stated during the meeting that the agency has not left Afghanistan in the wake of recent political changes.He also said that it continues to operate throughout the country.

Stillhart stated that the ICRC has good relations and cooperation with the Afghan Public Health Ministry, Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS), and other government-run institutions.The ICRC will continue its efforts to speed up the service supplying process for Afghanistan.

He stated that “We will continue expanding and providing humanitarian assistance based on our commitment towards the people of Afghanistan.”

According to the statement, Kabir thanked ICRC for their continued cooperation with Afghans, especially at a time when they desperately need humanitarian aid before winter.

The country is now cut off from all sources of international assistance that has sustained Afghanistan for over 20 years and is at the brink of economic collapse.It also faces the threat of famine or a humanitarian crisis.

Since August’s Taliban takeover, the situation has gotten worse.
