Taliban forbids Women from Taking part in TV Dramas

New Delhi 22 November : .According to the BBC, women have been barred from participating in Afghanistan’s television dramas under the Taliban-led government.
Reporters and female journalists have been instructed to cover their heads onscreen.However, the guidelines don’t specify which kind of covering.

According to the BBC, some rules can be interpreted in a vague way by reporters.

Eight new guidelines have been added to the latest Taliban guidelines that were issued to Afghan TV channels.

The report also stated that films against Islamic law or Afghan values are banned.Films showing intimate body parts are prohibited.

Also prohibited are comedy and entertainment that offend religions or could be considered offensive to Afghans.

According to the report, Taliban insisted on the ban of broadcasting foreign films that promote foreign cultural values.

Afghan TV channels mostly show foreign dramas featuring lead female characters.

Hujatullah Mujaddedi is a member of an organization that represents Afghan journalists.

He said it was unanticipated to hear of the new restrictions.

The BBC was informed by him that not all of the rules could be implemented and broadcasters might have to shut down if they are.

Afghanistan was the first country to ban half of its citizens from obtaining an education because the Taliban had earlier decided to make girls and young women stay at home.

According to the report, Kabul’s mayor also advised female employees of municipal offices that they should stay at home if their job could not be filled with a man.
