Los Angeles, December 8, 2008 : Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone has moved into scripted TV.He is set to star as the lead in the drama series “Kansas City”. Deadline.com reports that the actor, whose 1977 film Rocky won the Oscar for Best Picture, is currently in negotiations to star in and be executive producer of Kansas City, a series by Terence Winter and Taylor Sheridan for Paramount+.
It is Stallone’s first major television series.He has previously starred in a variety of classic shows like ‘Police Story’ or ‘Kojak’ in the 1970s, and more recently in series like ‘This is Us.
Kansas City brings together Sheridan.Sheridan is quickly becoming one of the most important television creators in the industry with series like ‘Yellowstone’ and ’Mayor of Kingstown’, 1883′ and Winter’.Sheridan is also the writer for ‘The Sopranos’ and creator of ‘Boardwalk Empire.
101 Studios, the company behind Sheridan’s series universe and MTV Entertainment Studios will produce the series.
Kansas City follows the story of an Italian mobster from New York City.
Stallone plays him and he is forced to move to Kansas City, Missouri.Present day: Legendary mobster Sal must reestablish his Italian mafia clan in Kansas City, a modern, straight-shooting city.
Sal meets unexpected and unsuspecting people along his unconventional path to power.
Along with Ron Burkle, David C.Glasser and Bob Yari from 101 Studios, Winter, Sheridan and Stallone will serve as executive producers.Winter will also be the showrunner.
A writers room is now up and running.
Next, Stallone stars in the superhero film ‘Samaritan & Guardians of the Galaxy 3’.It is scheduled for a 2023 release.
Glasser, 101 Studios CEO, stated that Taylor is a prolific creator due to the multi-dimensional characters he creates, and the complex worlds he constructs.
