Hyderabad 3rd September : A suspended Telangana government official, who was detained in an alleged land scam two years ago was discovered dead in suspicious circumstances on Saturday.Ch.Sujatha Ch.Sujatha Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) of Sheikhpet, was discovered dead.The reason of the death is not established.
It is believed that she may have committed suicide similar to her husband who had jumped to his death following her arrest in 2020.
A family member of Sujatha however Sujatha’s family member claimed she was receiving treatment for dengue , and was suffering from cardiac arrest.
The husband of Sujatha’s Ajay Kumar committed suicide on the 17th of June, 2020, after jumping off the terrace of a five-storey residential structure in Chikkadpally where his sister is.
A professor assistant of political science in Osmania University, Ajay took the extreme step a few days following Sujatha was detained and taken to jail in a land fraud.
On the 8th June in 2020 the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had arrested Sujatha in connection with an corruption case that was linked to more than 4,865 square feet of land in the posh Banjara Hills in Hyderabad.
The ACB had raided the house of Sujatha in Gandhi Nagar and had discovered gold jewellery as well as the sum of Rs 30 lakh in cash.She was previously the MRO of Amberpet as well as Mushirabad zones.
The ACB also arrested Revenue Inspector Nagarjuna Reddy while accepting a cash payment of 15 lakh rupees from the complainant Syed Abdul Khalid and a Sub-Inspector of Police of Banjara Hills, A.Ravindra Naik for demanding three lakhs from Khalid and accepting half of the amount.
Khalid had asked the MRO to survey the land purchased by his father in 1969 and to update the records.
The worth of the land was estimated to be 40 crore.
Sujatha had made an application with the Banjara Hills police that Khalid had encroached on the government land.
When Khalid later contacted Sujatha to seek a resolution of the matter, she directed him to the Revenue Inspector, Nagarjuna Reddy who demanded an payment of 30 lakhs rupees.
When the complainant contacted the ACB officials, they set traps and were able to catch Nagarjuna Reddy red-handed.
The investigation revealed the the involvement of MRO Sujatha as well as Sub-Inspector of Banjara Hills.
