Supreme court restrains AP CID from coercive action against ABN and TV5

The Supreme Court recently directed the AP government to suspend its action against two Telugu news channels.The Supreme Court has directed the Andhra Pradesh government not to take any coercive action against Telugu news channels TV5 and ABN Andhra Jyoti.

The Andhra Pradesh government has registered treason cases against TV5 and ABN Andhra Jyoti channels.The owners of these two channels have challenged this in the Supreme Court.

The petition was heard by the Supreme Court today.Justice Divya Chandrachud heard the case.

An FIR has been registered against the two channels on charges of treason for airing the comments made by YCP rebel MP Raghuram Krishnan Raju on AP CM Jagan.TV5 brought to the notice of the Supreme court that the speeches of MP Raghurama Krishnamaraju were aired by several media houses along with them.

AP CID police arrested Raghurama Krishnamaraju on May 14 on charges of defaming the AP state government and AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy after he filed a petition seeking revocation of AP CM YS Jagan’s bail in the inappropriate assets case.However, the Supreme Court granted conditional bail to Raghuram Krishnaraja on May 21.
