London 19th August : England’s speedy Stuart Broad has become only the second player to have taken 100 wickets in a Test match at Lord’s and joins long-time pace-bowling teammate James Anderson, who was present on the field to greet Stuart Broad in celebration.
The second day of the first Test against South Africa, the 36-year-old Broad dismissed Kyle Verreynne with an edge behind to Ben Foakes to become the second player to win 100 wickets in the Test in the stadium.

The Proteas however were in control in the game in the first half, evicting the hosts with a pathetic 161 in 45 overs prior to lunch on the second day and scoring 289/7 to take an advantage of 124 runs.

Broad with the record is now the fourth person to have taken 100 wickets in one venue, and is now part of an elite group with his teammate , as also Sri Lankan pair Muttiah Muralitharan and Rangana Herath.

Muralitharan has done it in three locations: Galle, Kandy and the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo according to ICC.

This feat is a further accomplishment in the sport of Broad who is aiming for Glenn McGrath’s fifth position on the list of Test wicket-taking records all time.Broad, with 553 scalps is just 10 scalps away from surpassing his Australian counterpart and could easily surpass McGrath before the end of the current series.

If you’re thinking of fast bowlers, Anderson (658 scalps as of now) is the only one to separate Broad on the highest level of the list after taking over the Australian.
