A 10-year-old boy was severely injured in an attack by stray dogs in Ayyappanagar of Kamareddy town.This incident happened on Wednesday.He is currently in a critical condition.
The victim, identified as Rahman, was playing in front of his house when when suddenly a pack of stray dogs attacked him.He was shifted to a local government hospital in the vicinity and given a anti-rabies vaccine.
Residents of the area said that municipal officials failed to control the stray dog menace despite repeated complaints.Mohammad Rafiq, the boy’s father, said: “We are worried over the safety of children in residential localities due to stray dog menace.”
Meanwhile, doctors said they administered the anti-rabies vaccine to the boy and are monitoring his condition.
Following the incident, angry residents of Ayyappanagar staged a protest over the negligence of municipal officials on the issue of rising dog population in the locality.
Recently an eight-year-old boy was mauled to death near Kazipet railway quarters in Hanamkonda district on May 19.The boy named Chotu, son of daily wage labourers, was sleeping alone under a tree.
On February 19, a four-year-old son of a watchman was mauled to death by stray dogs in Amberpet.
The horrific incident was caught on camera provoking public outcry.
