Los Angeles, November 20, 2008 : .Steven Spielberg, the director of ‘West Side Story’ and Rachel Zegler laughed about their inexperience as Zegler made her first movie musical debut. Total Film magazine quoted her as saying that she was certain the only musically-inspired thing Spielberg has done is “Anything Goes” in “Temple of Doom.” We would always read about Spielberg’s musicals from the perspective of skeptics.I was like “That’s one amazing film opening!”
But we had definitely spoken.I had never done a film before.He’d never seen a musical.It was a joke that we would teach one another how to do it!”
Reporting by femalefirst.co.uk, Zegler described her experience of stepping onto set to film her first role in a movie as a terrifying one.
But, she realized that the film as a whole is just “pretty darn amazing”.
Elle added, “It was absolutely terrifying for me at the time.However, I have seen the final product.It’s great that I don’t feel scared any more.Steven deserves this huge compliment.”We did our best and that was pretty awesome.”
