State Institute of Fisheries Technology in Kakinada gets NABL recognition!!

The National Accreditation Board Limited (NABL) has accredited the Aqua Laboratory at the State Institute of Fisheries Technology in Kakinada with NABL recognition.So far, NABL is accredited only for the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology in Kochi, Kerala, the Export Inspection Agencies in Chennai and the Rajiv Gandhi Center for Aquaculture in Nagapattinam.

This is the first time in the country that the state-level Aqua Lab has been recognized by NABL.The RTPCR Lab was set up in 2001 at SIFT, Kakinada.

Subsequently, water and soil quality analysis, microbiology, fish and prawn feed quality analysis labs were set up.Currently, there are 61 types of tests with international standards in SIFT, Kakinada.

The application was submitted by the Andhra Pradesh state government in June this year for NABL recognition based on infrastructure, technical equipment, staff expertise and standardized test methods in the labs.NABL, which has expressed satisfaction with the quality standards in SIFT lab, has given NABL recognition to the SIFT lab.

NABL recognition provides the opportunity to provide more quality services to aqua farmers, hatcheries and fodder manufacturers in the state.In particular, there will be an opportunity to test grazing, fish and baby prawns and issue quality certificates based on NABL certification.
